Can You Use Retinol On Your Body?
Today I'm going to talk to you about why I'm so obsessed with our newest product, the 1.68% Retinol Body Treatment Lotion.
We are going to cover:
Can you use retinol cream on your body?
Absolutely, yes! And you definitely should if you'd like to preserve an even, clean, youthful canvas from head to toe.
What is the best retinol body cream?
The one you can use daily, that is also strong enough to speed up cell regeneration faster than it's degrading. The skin on your body is more tolerant than the skin on your face, however if you've noticed, most of the retinol body creams on the market are actually less potent than face products. That's why we created the Bauer Beauty 1.68% Retinol Body Treatment. Originally a face retinol, now large enough for unibody use.
What does retinol body lotion do?
Retinol body lotion, when formulated and used properly, will prevent signs of aging such as crepey skin, pigmentation, fine lines & wrinkles. It will keep your skin looking more youthful than it otherwise would. It will keep you from having a large aesthetic disparity between your face and body.
What are the side effects of retinol body lotion?
Retinol body lotion, like most retinol, can cause dryness, redness, flakiness, over the first few weeks of use. Once your skin adapts, you will not experience these side effects anymore unless you take a break and restart again. The side effects of retinol are not bad, in fact, as a professional I personally love taking a large break of my retinol just so I can confuse the skin and really get those effects again.
Is retinol good for crepey skin?
Retinol is one of the best ingredients to use for crepey skin. That's because retinol is the gold standard for anti aging. As of now its one of the only FDA approved anti aging ingredients. It works by speeding up cell regeneration, building collagen, lightening pigment, and tightening skin.
Why I created the Bauer Beauty Retinol Body Treatment
I created this for a few different reasons. I noticed signs of aging on my body that could be easily prevented with the right skincare.
I most definitely didn't want to be a girl with a disparity in how my skin looked from face to body, and that's what would occur if I did nothing.
I'm in my late 30's now and for probably a decade I've observed these changes in my body skin with absolutely NO good solution. Everything I tried was either;
1) not strong enough.
2) not affordable enough to use daily for years.
3) not large enough to justify the cost.
4) not practical or user friendly enough for me to actually use daily.
These were my biggest pain points.
I started to see some retinol body creams come on the market but with a sad and pathetic amount of retinol in the formula.
Have you noticed your body has a higher tolerance than your face? So you know when you use Tretinoin on your face and it turns red and flakey for weeks? That is along the lines of what I wanted to see in my anti aging body products. You should SEE your skin react to some extent if you want to see an actual difference in your skin.
I'm in my late 30's now and for probably a decade now I've been aware of the fact that we needed body solutions that worked as effectively as our face skincare.
What is the consequence of delaying retinol use on the body?
You can certainly delay for a while. The skin on the body tends to be more resilient because it’s not constantly exposed to sun for example. But eventually by your mid 30s you should be prioritizing body care if you want to keep a smooth, even canvas from head to toe.
The main issue with effective anti-aging for the body is; we don't have advanced treatments like we do for the face. Example, no one’s getting a phenol peel on the full body!
So in the way we can take 10 years off the face in one treatment, we cannot do that for the body! That means you need to keep up with an effective routine at home that will compound over time.
Have you ever heard of compounding interest? It’s the concept that the earlier you start investing the better because the interest compounds so exponentially.
Using retinol on the body is similar. You can't get the day back where you didn’t use retinol lol. Because its a long game, you want to try to maximize the amount of TIME you’re using the ingredient.
Does retinol body lotion really work?
Retinol body lotion will work for you if the formula is effective and you use it correctly. You need to look for a formula that is strong, as strong or greater than the strength of a face formula.
You also need to use the retinol cream CONSISTENTLY. As in… probably 5 times per week. Not just for a couple months, but pretty much indefinitely.
This is why I created the subscription option for the Bauer Beauty Retinol Treatment, so you can get one shipped to you at your desired frequency for a discount!
Even though you need to use this type of product long term, you also will see a change in your skin very quickly! Within a few weeks you’ll see your skin become softer, smoother, fine lines will become less noticeable, tone will look overall brighter.
How often can you use retinol on your body?
You can use retinol on your body as often as tolerated.
As a professional, I do recommend 5 times per week. The other two days I recommend a repairing formula and an exfoliating formula.
You can exfoliate and apply the retinol on your body in the same day if tolerated, which I definitely do when I exfoliate in the shower. But I recommend incorporating an exfoliating lotion once per week as well.
